What's Happening in the KP Library
Library Hours
Library Hours:

Did you know that children need 1,000 hours prior to entering school to be fully prepared? Because of that, the library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. everyday.  You are always welcome to come and help your child check out a book or even watch them take an AR test.  We are very proud here at Kennedy-Powell about our wonderful library collection.

Texas Bluebonnet
Texas Bluebonnet Award Program

Kennedy-Powell fourth and fifth grade students are encouraged to participate in the Texas Bluebonnet Award program.  Participating students must read a minimum of five books from the current master list before they may vote for their favorite title.  Teachers and parents are encouraged to read some of the books aloud.  The author receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.
Please feel free to contact Debra Moore for more information.
Below is the master list of titles for 2011-2012:

Birthday Book Club
Birthday Books for the Library

A birthday is a special time in a child's life.  The Kennedy-Powell Library would like to give you the opportunity to honor your child on his/her birthday by purchasing a book and donating it to the library in his/her name.  Please contact Debra Moore, the Kennedy-Powell librarian, for more information on how to have your child become part of the Library Birthday Book Club.

AR STORE
AR STORE
The first semester AR STORE will be in January 2012!  At that time, KP students will have an opportunity to cash in their first semester AR points.  Make sure your child is reading each night and taking AR tests when completing stories he/she has read.  That way he/she will be earning lots points to spend on AR treasures.
